Breakfast Surprise!

Our church group had a fall campout planned. In previous years, several couples took their RV’s and made a weekend out of it. We planned on trying out tent camping… but the forecast for lousy weather convinced us to cancel. So did most of the other camping couples. Ted and Linda had gone a day early, with an Airstream as their camping cabin. They were disappointed that almost nobody else was coming. Many would be coming for meetings on Saturday, but they felt lonely! They invited another couple to come early Saturday for breakfast. Several of us heard that and decided to “Crash” the breakfast party! We had about 8 more people, and all of us brought fancy food to add to the party. When we knocked on the door, Linda greeted us with delight! She didn’t even know we’d brought food. Such great hospitality! We had a great time with over a dozen for an impromptu breakfast potluck!

The meetings went well… even if I did some of the speaking! Then a huge potluck lunch…

We noticed a deer outside; who knew they’d eat from bird feeders?

The afternoon was a good time for a bird walk… but we didn’t see too much.

The Lincoln Journal Tower is a monument to the newspaper, which printed its first issue in 1867! From the 35 foot tower, you can see about 50 square miles – and almost half of Nebraska’s population!

Malcolm rode with us that day; it was great to spend the day with him!

Saturday night the Lincoln Adventist Men’s Chorus sang the national anthem for two volleyball championships. The final game was between our local College View Academy and Forest Lake Academy from Florida. Both teams were amazing! I was tired from a long day, but even though it was well past my bedtime (snicker,) I stayed to watch! Oh, yeah… Florida beat our home team…

We are trying to finish our back yard before the snow flies. Our neighbor contested the line where our landscapers finished our rocks… so we had to bring in a surveyor. Yep, we were over the line anywhere from 0 to maybe 6 inches. Sigh. So now they are moving everything back a few inches, so we can get our fence finished.

So I made that crack about finishing before the snow flies… and this morning we rose to a very foggy, cold view. It was 28 degrees! I wasn’t ready for that! Really very pretty, though.

PS: Thanks to Linda Becker for some of the photos of breakfast and meetings!
