Star Wars Day

As I’m sure everyone knows, May 4 is Star Wars Day. (May the fourth…)

We were surprised when the doorbell rang, mid morning. When we opened the door, the Star Wars music was loudly playing, and our wonderful family was there to give us Star Warsian treats! Here you see grandkids with fruit-created light sabers, and Becky had used her awesome chocolate skills and made some special themed chocolates. Darth Vader and R2D2 never tasted so good! What fun!!

When we were in Alaska a couple of years ago, the driver’s seat in the Suburban lost the ability to move up and down. It was stuck in the lowest position, and that made it hard for Cherryl to drive. I ordered a new switch, and had it sent ahead of us to a Chevy dealer in Whitehorse. I replaced the switch, and felt proud of myself when the seat worked like new.

Until a year or so later when it didn’t. Sometimes it would work, other times not. For the last several months, the vertical adjustment hasn’t worked at all, forcing Cherryl to sit on a pillow. Sigh. It was hard to think of working on it since we only have the one car… If I take it all apart, and need a part, do I have to Uber to the parts store? I finally decided to risk it, and took the seat clear out. The switch tested out fine, so I kept looking. It seems one worm gear ran past its stop, and jammed there. I finally got it freed up, and now it works fine. Yay! Hope it doesn’t do it again!

Early February saw a bulldozer start digging a whole in the lot adjacent to our back fence. I decided to document the progress with a series of pictures… I put them together, and they aren’t as smooth as I’d envisioned, but may be interesting if you like building. The following 2.5 minutes document exactly 3 months of work! Welcome a new house to the neighborhood!

If that was a bit to jerky for you, the following video of the roof installation should be a bit smoother…

  1. Those videos would make a nice house-warming present for the new neighbors. I documented our next door neighbors’ house construction with photos and had a little photo book made. They loved it.

    • That’s on the plan… will be fun to show them their home being built. Great to hear from you!
