Tesla Testing Trip

We’ve set out on an epic Tesla-testing Road Trip! We left Lincoln, Nebraska one day, mid morning, and headed for Spokane. We are not trying to set any records, just see how our battery powered toy does going the distance. We divided the Spokane segment into three days, with the last day ending in Bozeman, Montana, where we could luxuriate in the fabulous Bozeman Hot Springs. Sorry, no pictures of the wonderful pools. I put up pictures of the gorgeous pools when we visited last time here. More info on that previous visit: we met two young ladies with beautiful Australian accents, who were in a camper van right next to our motorhome. They were excited to see inside our rig, and we had fun talking with them. We said we were planning on visiting Australia and New Zealand, and they gave us their contact info. One of the gals, Mikayla, was from New Zealand, and we actually met up with her in New Zealand! (You can see that here.)

So here are a few of the Supercharger sites we’ve hit on our trip so far.

At one stop, we saw this bearded guy hook his car up, recline his seat, put shades over his eyes and take a nap! At our next stop, he pulled in beside us! We had fun talking to him. He does a lot of touring in his Tesla, and admitted that he got his first ticket in 30+ years on this trip. We wondered if we’d see him at the next logical stop, but he was headed south towards Denver when we were headed a bit further north.

Sometimes Superchargers are in the parking lot of a large mall, sometimes a restaurant lot, sometimes almost nowhere. Guess where this one is?

We would often take a short walk while the car charged up. I saw this tangled pipe and thought it must say something if viewed from the right angle. Standing in the middle of the road, I saw its claim more clearly.

So we finally arrived in Spokane. It rained a lot on our last stretch, and we’ve seen a lot of fog in the mornings since then. The fog lends an etherial aura to the beautiful scenery.

On an early morning walk on the property, Karen showed me the joy of biting ice drops off evergreen needles!

We also got to sit in on Karen teaching harp to a young girl. She’s an excellent teacher! We all had fun – student, observers, and even the teacher!

This week is “Spirit Week” at the grandkids’ school… Ashlyn wore a gorgeous Qipau (pronounced Chee-Pow) for the Met Gala day.

Ashlyn doesn’t always dress like that… more often she’s dressed to conquer at the climbing gym. She is very strong and extremely talented.

One amusing spot at the gym has this giant purple bulge on the wall. The idea is to stand only on that, and get to the next one, without touching any other colored holds. It is quite tricky, and it was great fun to watch different folks try it. This guy worked his face as much as the rest of his body.

One day Loren flew to Lewiston, Idaho for work. (I wasn’t able to go with him. Sigh.) When he returned, the sunset was spectacular, and he took a couple of shots of his plane. He got a phone call from a number he didn’t recognize… it turned out to be a guy in the tower, who shot a picture of him flying his approach to the airport. His plane on final to the airport is our final picture.
