The memorial service for Cherryl’s mother, Joanne Vercio, was held Saturday afternoon. A very nice service, it started with Joanne’s four granddaughters reading a life sketch.

Joanne paid for music lessons for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a tribute to her, some of them played for the service.

Charlotte gave a short tribute before playing the piano.

Here is just a tiny snippet of Ashlyn and Bryan’s duet: [They adapted a Jake Shimabukuro ukulele piece to include both the harp and ukulele.]
Pastor Simon gave a nice talk…

After the service, we had to do a group picture…

And then a more natural one. (Looks like Peter got the two photos mixed up!)

Saturday night was family, food, and fun.

We have a big garage, and I have big plans for it… making it a place of service for those we can help. Karen and Loren got me a gift, telling me I had to unscramble the letters to see what it should really say. We finally figured it out – “Bruces Place,” for what we might call the garage project. So Fun!!

We drove Loren, Karen, Ashlyn and Bryan to the airport in Omaha Sunday morning. After dropping them off, we took a walk along the river that’s right across the street! It was a beautiful day for flying or river-walking.

A couple of days later, our realtor dropped by with a ton of gifts! Flowers, books, candied nuts, chocolates (created by our daughter Becky), puzzles, and a cool puzzle tray to do them on. So sweet!

The puzzle table rotates, and has 6 drawers you can separate pieces into. Very cool!

Halloween brought a few strange creatures to our door:

But we had wonderful house guests – Jeff and Marilyn were driving through and stayed the night with us. We went to a nice Indian restaurant and had a great time. The only bummer was that I left the new basket on the front porch, full of candy. When we got back from dinner, not only had all the candy been taken, but the basket too! Sigh.

We had a great time with Jeff and Marilyn!

Looked like the memorial was very nice and then an evening of fun.
