The highlight of the week was Bryan’s baptism! He wanted to be baptized in a lake, and Silver Lake, adjacent to our friends Tim and Cheri’s home, was a perfect location. Many friends and family joined at the lakeside to celebrate Bryan’s public declaration of his commitment to Jesus. Pastor Stephen had a nice little service and a quick baptism in the chilly water.

A beautiful day for a beautiful commitment!
About a year ago, fire ravaged this community… Tim and Cheri’s home was almost the only house left standing as far as you could see. Now you can see many new houses being built where the previous homes stood, but there are still several homesites where the rebuilding has not started.

This burned out mess is right across the street from their house… The garage is closest to the street. The remains of a car are obvious (Looks like a Chevy HHR to me,) but looking a bit more carefully I could see the garage door opener on the roof of the car, with its chain draped over the back, the garage doors and their tracks, and a table saw. All ordinary stuff, but tragic to see normal things so completely destroyed.

Another site was mostly gateway and rubbish over a foundation.

This house wasn’t burned down… but it aged a bit!

Here’s a beautiful metal stairway from the lakeside up to an empty lot.

Our friend Brooke has just taken up a teaching position at Gonzaga University in downtown Spokane. Gonzaga was founded in 1887 by Joseph Cataldo, an Italian-born priest and Jesuit missionary. He named the university after the young Jesuit saint Aloysius Gonzaga.

Today the University is situated on a beautiful campus, with modern buildings as well as a few classic structures.

Brooke has pictures on her office wall of previous places she’s worked – NASA, JPL, Self Driving cars and more!

We got to see another of Ashlyn’s soccer games. They won this game in an exciting “sudden death” overtime! What fun!

We’ve seen Moose on our kid’s property before, and Deer. (No Moose this time for us.) But it’s also common to see a few wild Turkeys. Five or six, maybe eight at a time. One morning I counted 25! Here is a little group of about 8 in the front yard.

So I’ll close with a picture of a gorgeous sky…
