Great friends Tom and Linda invited us to a Luau held in their back yard. We were excited for the event – mostly because they are such wonderful folks, but also to see what a Luau in Nebraska would look like! Especially since they, as well as us, are vegetarian… I assumed there would be no pigs on a spit over a huge fire!
As expected, the venue was gorgeous. Their yard fronts a small lake, and has lush green trees everywhere. Absolutely beautiful.
Tables were set up on the lawn, and we started filling a table with exotic yummy food.
The food table was a little too close to this birdhouse, and a small bird was getting very nervous about it. We moved the table so she could relax.
The table was beautiful…
The food was very Hawaiian, but veggie style. Some of it had just been flown in from the islands this week!
Better than scenery and delicious food was the company! Some we hadn’t met before, and some are good friends. Wonderful weather added to the ambiance, and we had an awesome time!
One evening Becky and her family came over to discuss our upcoming trip [Teaser – next week is BIG!] and she brought some goodies with her. She had been experimenting with some new chocolate flavors, and brought us some samples! I LOVE IT when she does that!! Think chocolate with a hint of orange… yum! And absolutely adorable were these little Peanut Butter Mushroom donuts… drizzled with dark chocolate. Bite sized, unless you are polite and have excellent restraint; then you might get two or three bites. Then it’s time for another!
I had the privilege of taking Peter to his Ninja class this week. Nebraska Ninja is filled with challenges… for all sizes. Parallel bars with various heights, all sorts of bars with kids learning amazing gymnastics, curved walls for attempting to scale, and plenty of other things to hang from, jump over, or fall in!
Way at the back of the room, you may notice Peter running up a 12 foot wall!
The summer of ’22 found us in Alaska, back in the days we lived in our motorhome. While in Watson Lake, Yukon, I had to leave a sign in the famous Sign Forest. At the time, it was said to have over 90,000 signs posted! Maybe ours was 90,001.
Our dear distant relative Angela had friends traveling through there recently, and told them to look for our sign. (And theirs) They found it, and sent us this picture! I’m amazed they could find it! Over 100,000 signs are claimed to be posted there. (Someday, we might be one in a million!)
Here’s the picture taken recently:
Here’s a flashback to when we posted our sign, four years ago. [That blog is here.]
