We had dinner with Kevin, Becky, Dayna and Peter on April 1. When serving up the food, Becky said we should start with dessert – in this case, cake. It turned out to be a very special cake! Cottage Cheese loaf frosted with colored mashed potatoes. Carrot flowers with peas garnished the top. It was really good!
We had a few cute visitors join us at the table.
Our next course was also pretty special… a bucket of chalk; a lot. And what could be better than chalk; a lot with brown E’s?
After a good laugh at the chocolate and brownies, Becky served us some pecan pie. It seemed normal enough, until we were offered mayonnaise, straight from the Hellman’s jar, as a topping! As suspected, it was really whipped cream in a novel presentation.
Kevin had done many other silly things that day. The kids went to get in the van, and found in its place a small toy car – the real van nowhere in sight. Several things were found in absurd places. And Peter put a large can of Bruces’ Yams in his parent’s bed, and had them thinking a cat had somehow gotten in there.
What a fun night!
In keeping with the spirit of April Fool’s day, I’m going to mention that we have embarked on a huge trip that I’ve been looking forward to for a long time! But I’m not going to tell you where yet!
We left Omaha’s Eppley field early in the morning.
As we broke through the clouds, we had a gorgeous view – a great beginning to an epic adventure… can you guess where we’re headed?
