It’s taken quite a long time, but we are finally finished with the landscaping project! (Well, pretty much… there are a few little details to get cleaned up.) I feel we’ve had wheelbarrows, shovels, 4×8 sheets of heavy plastic, piles of dirt or rocks, and of course the little Bobcat in our driveway and yard forever! It looks nice now, and the water should drain off the front yard properly.
I will admit I kinda liked the little Bobcat. They showed me where they hid the key on it, in case I had to move it. So of course, I had to move it! Out on the street, lift and tilt the bucket, spin a circle or two, and then back where I found it before I broke something! (No pictures exist of me driving, so it can’t be proven – just hearsay and rumor!)
I’m quite certain the skid marks will wash off the driveway soon!
Back to Holmes Lake
While we are happy to have a few trees and bushes in our yard now, it’s nothing like a mature, green park. And a very nice one near us is Holmes Lake. A walk around the lake is about three miles, and it makes for a very scenic way to get your exercise. You can also see a lot of nice birds.
The other day we were in Omaha, and after a quick lunch, decided we deserved ice cream! We found an ice cream parlor online that looked good, and when we showed up, we realized we’d been there before. We chose well both times! The ice cream was great! eCreamery is in a beautiful old building, right next to a public clock. These clocks fascinate me… I wonder when they were placed, and what the world looked like then. Were street clocks like this placed all over so folks without watches could keep appointments? While some articles say they were used for advertising, some were just to add a little class or distinction to a business or area. Whatever, I think they are interesting.
Last week I posted a picture Becky took of the baby birds in our flower basket. We can say with confidence now that they are House Finches. They are almost impossible to see in the jungle that is the flower basket! The parents zoom away when anyone approaches. We can see them flying in with food for the little ones. I don’t want to get too close, but have to peek in occasionally. I’ve seen two chicks, and three eggs not yet hatched. I’m guessing those three are duds.
So my latest picture shows some little creatures in need of grooming! Crazy kids and their hairstyles!
