Boo at the Zoo

Fall arrived in Lincoln shortly after we did! There are beautiful colors appearing all over. Not in our neighborhood, however, because there aren’t many mature trees yet, but I managed to shoot a few pictures of nice areas.

We finally added a bit of furniture to our new home… matching recliner and couch were delivered, and made our living room a bit more livable.

Somebody needs to teach Cherryl how to use a recliner!

We also wanted a bit of privacy, which was not afforded by the clear glass sidelight. So it got covered with some fake stained glass.

Washing a couple of the windows was a challenge, because they are right over the window well of the basement bedrooms. A ladder borrowed from Kevin did the trick.

We also had more wonderful arrivals… Karen, Loren, Ashlyn and Bryan arrived, as this weekend is to be Joanne’s memorial service.

All the ladies had lunch on Friday at a fun restaurant. From the left are pictured Karen, Ashlyn, Becky, Crista, Jeanne, Sandy and Cherryl. I wasn’t there so that’s all the commentary you get.

After some of us guys had a wonderful meal at Taco John’s, 😉 we met up and took all the kids to “Boo at the Zoo.”

One of the most interesting exhibits in the zoo is an indoors climbing area for Spider Monkeys… and attached to it is a climbing network for human kids. It’s almost like they are in adjoining cages, and a lot of fun!

So here are a few shots of Grand Kids acting like monkeys:

A Jeep has been cut in halves, with one where kids can get on board, and the other half in the Tiger’s cage. Only a wall of glass separating the two halves. We’ve been here before, and I always thought it’d be fun to see a Tiger in his half of the Jeep. This day it happened! The Tiger seemed remotely interested in the kids, and they were excited to get that close.

Feeding a Giraffe is another fun activity. The crazy looking animals love to eat lettuce from the hands of giggling children… or adults. The amazing long tongues would make anyone laugh!

Ashlyn will try to gain altitude whenever possible.

The Red Panda is a popular stop. He looks like a teddy bear you’d love to hug!

Here Ashlyn and Bryan show Cherryl how you are supposed to sit on a recliner couch.

Casey shows the kids her Sugar Gliders. They are very small, and really cute. Again, I wasn’t here, so that’s all the info you get here.

Friday night everyone met at Steve and Jeanne’s home, for dinner and fun at the fire pit. Marshmallows were roasted (or burned,) chocolates melted, and fun conversations enjoyed. Tomorrow will be the memorial service… come back next week for a report.

P.S. I can’t help taking pictures of the homes being created all around us! It’s amazing how fast these structures are growing!
