Last week we drove the hearse to Denver and back to Lincoln… Then we spent a nice few days with Kevin and Becky. They live in a very nice development that has several parks situated pleasant walking distances apart. There are also open spaces, which are probably for water run-off, but they grow wild and are nice places for birds.
After that nice but all too short time with family, it was time to race back to Nashville to pick up our motorhome. All the service requests I had made were supposedly done. We were given a gate code again, so we could get in after hours and spend the night in our rolling home. We’d had two slides worked on… the big one worked perfectly… but the kitchen slide wouldn’t slide out. Bummer! OK, with even one slide open there is plenty of room in the front so we’d survive quite well.
When they opened in the morning, I told them the slide with the new motor wasn’t working. Quick as a flash, the head tech who’d worked with us was on his little electric bike and to our site. While we ate breakfast inside, he worked with some controls in the basement and got it working. The slide controller needs limits set at maximum opening and closing, and the closing limit was set improperly, causing the motor to jam. He got it unjammed, reset the limits, and tested it a few times. All done in about a half hour. Great!
I mention his bike, because this place is so huge, if the techs didn’t have bikes to scoot around on, they’d waste a lot of time. They have room inside to store around 200 motorhomes. I’m not sure how many they have in service at a time, but there are lots of rigs in here! And about that many parked in a couple driveways that circle the building. Amazing.
So once again, we skipped any common activities in Nashville. We got back on the road, and drove 2/3 of the way back to Lincoln. (We had appointments to get legal stuff done Friday afternoon.)
We stopped at this nice place in Columbia, Missouri. Once in the campground, we remembered we’d stayed here once before. (But we don’t remember exactly when…)
We were right across from a little lake or big pond (Not sure which.)
The next morning we drove on to Lincoln, Nebraska again. Stayed in the Event Center lot again… Sometimes it’s quite crowded here, with lots of horse trailers and ranchers and cowboys. Now the lot is almost deserted!
We did see some magnificent sunsets!
With the legal stuff taken care of (at least for now) we had more time with kids and grandkids.
Dayna was determined to stand on the springy thing that was designed for four kids to sit on. She did quite well! (the playground is padded with heavy rubber stuff.)
I expected Peter would want to try it next… but no, Kevin had to try it!
Next it was Becky’s turn! Peter did it also, but sometimes he doesn’t want his picture taken, so I can’t document it.
In contrast to all the fun at the park, Rosie was content to curl up on the back of the couch. I’m looking forward to some time like that myself!
