After disembarking the cruise ship in Vancouver, we took a thrilling bus ride to the airport. Actually, it was quite pretty.
The views of Vancouver were wonderful as we flew out… I couldn’t get a still shot, but the movie worked pretty well.
We flew to Spokane via San Francisco. Don’t you love airline routing? As we walked around the San Francisco airport, we kept noticing familiar spots… “We ate here last time we went through this airport.” “Our gate was up this way…” But we wracked our brains trying to think of the last time we were here. “We haven’t gone through California for years!” After a while it dawned on us… we flew through San Francisco on our way to Sydney just last January! It didn’t seem like part of this same trip! We’re hopeless…
We had a very short visit with our kids in Spokane. Almost as short as this video of Spike Ball, played in the basement.
We cut our visit to Karen and Loren’s beautiful family short, to fly to Lincoln and see Cherryl’s mother, who is not doing well. Here’s the only shot of the trip – an evening stopover in Denver.
We flew into Omaha, and rented a little car for the drive to Lincoln. We stayed with Becky, Kevin, Dayna and Peter.
The sun was shining and the skies were pretty… and the grandkids were fun!
This picture has no particular significance except that the blue sky and green grass looked especially good.
May the 4th is Star Wars day. Our grandkids were going to get their first viewing of the original movie. We made a bit of a party of it… Becky made Chewy Chocolate Cookies, and Tie Fighter hot dogs. A fun evening!
Dayna performed in a piano recital in a nice venue north of town. The campus looked very nice, but the interior of the church was even nicer.
Dayna did a nice job of her piece!
It was fun to see her teacher there, beaming with her! And they said the matching outfits were just coincidental.
Word had it that the Aurora Borealis might be seen as far south as Nebraska… So we went out in the middle of the night. Cameras can see it far better than just plain eyes do. Here are a few iPhone pictures. We did no preparation at all… as I was going to bed I said I’d get up at 1 am and look out the front door. Well, all the others got up to. The grandkids weren’t too impressed, but we had fun trying to take pictures. Handheld, because I didn’t plan on a tripod or anything. The next day I saw so many awesome pictures from all over the place, that I’m not sure why I’m even putting these up! But me and my iPhone had fun and I never thought I’d see Northern Lights in Lincoln Nebraska!
